Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: 2026-07-08
This Acceptable Use Policy governs use of the skink email verification API and dashboard (the "Service") and is incorporated by reference into our Terms of Service.
1. Permitted Use
You may use the Service to verify email addresses you have a lawful basis to process — including your own contact lists, opt-in subscribers, and legitimately-sourced sales prospects.
A deliverable verification result does not constitute consent or permission to send email. You remain solely responsible for obtaining and maintaining whatever consent, opt-in, or other lawful basis your own sending requires under applicable law (including anti-spam and data-protection law), independent of anything the Service returns.
2. Prohibited Use
You may not use the Service to:
- Submit addresses obtained from an unlawful source, including illegally scraped, harvested, or purchased-without-rights lists, or through any other unlawful data-acquisition method.
- Facilitate spam, phishing, credential-stuffing or other credential-based attacks, harassment, or any other unlawful activity.
- Perform mass account-existence enumeration unrelated to assessing your own list's deliverability.
- Resell or repackage raw verification results as a standalone address-enumeration or people-lookup service.
- Circumvent rate limits, or create multiple accounts to exceed limits or abuse free-tier credits.
- Attempt to circumvent a recipient mail provider's security, anti-abuse, or anti-spam controls through your use of the Service.
3. Enforcement
- We monitor for volume anomalies — verification activity that spikes well above an account's own recent baseline — as an indicator of a leaked key, a compromised integration, or misuse. Flagged accounts are reviewed by a person, not auto-suspended; see our Security page.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this Policy, with notice where practicable, per Section 8 of our Terms of Service.
- We cooperate with lawful requests from competent authorities; we do not assist unlawful surveillance of any individual.
4. Customer Responsibility
You are solely responsible for the legality of the addresses you submit to the Service and for how you use the results the Service returns.
